You received your invitation in the mail and immediately entered the date, time and location in your calendar. Then you telephoned the host to let him know that you will certainly attend and how delighted you are to have been invited. Responding immediately is very considerate. Your host knows exactly how many people he has invited, and he will be doing the grocery shopping in advance. Guests who respond at the last minute create unnecessary extra work for the host.
